Five Deep

You already know five people who need to vote.

Election Day is November 3. Commit to five people in your life and make sure every one of them is registered, has a plan, and knows their rights.

What This Actually Is

Relational organizing is just talking to your people.

You have probably heard "relational organizing" from everyone from grassroots groups to presidential campaigns. It sounds technical. It is not. It is something you already do every day: talking to people you know and moving them to act.

We trust the people who love us. A text from your cousin lands differently than a call from a stranger with a clipboard. That is why the most powerful organizer in your network is you.

Now imagine every person who voted last cycle brought five people who stayed home. That is not a fantasy. That is a group chat.

How It Works

Commit

Name the five people you are bringing with you.

Check

Confirm all five are registered before the deadline in your state.

Plan

Help each one decide when, where, and how they are getting to the polls.

Protect

Make sure all five save 866-OUR-VOTE, the nonpartisan Election Protection hotline.

Conversation Guide

Talking politics with family can feel like a lot. It does not have to be.

Remember three steps: Open, Question, Action.

For someone who usually sits it out

Hey, you good?
You know there's an election November 3?
I just double checked my registration at vote.org. Takes 30 seconds. Do yours.

For your group chat

Y'all, quick thing.
Early voting starts before Election Day in a lot of places, so you don't have to take off work.
I'm making a plan this week. Send me your day and time so I can check on you.

That is it. Open, question, action. If texting is not your thing, call. Send a voice note. Pull up. However you reach your people is the right way.

Know Your Rights

  • If you are in line when polls close, stay in line. They have to let you vote.
  • If they say you are not on the roll, ask for a provisional ballot in writing.
  • If anyone tries to intimidate or block you, call 866-OUR-VOTE right away.
